The first few weeks after a lash lift are the best. You wake up, your lashes are already curled, and mascara feels optional. Then one day you catch yourself reaching for the eyelash curler again and wonder when that happened. Here's how to tell your lift has done its job and it's time to book the next one.
1. the curler is back in your makeup bag
If you're curling your lashes most mornings again, the lift has relaxed. That's normal. A lift usually lasts six to eight weeks, and you'll notice it softening at the outer corners first.
2. your lashes are pointing in different directions
Your lashes don't all grow at once. New ones come through straight while the lifted ones still curl, so after a while you get a bit of a mixed bag. When it starts looking uneven rather than lifted, that's your cue.
3. mascara isn't doing what it used to
A fresh lift gives mascara a curled, upward base to grip onto. Once the lift drops, the same mascara starts to look flat and clumpy, and you end up layering on more to get the same effect.
4. your tint has faded at the tips
If you had a tint with your lift, the colour fades as your lashes grow and shed. Lighter tips make lashes look shorter than they are, especially if you're fair. A fresh tint puts the length back.
5. you've got something coming up
Christmas parties, a wedding, a summer away. Book your lift about a week before the big day so it has settled and you're not worrying about keeping your lashes dry the night before.
a quick note on timing
We generally suggest leaving at least six weeks between lifts. Your lashes need time to grow through their natural cycle, and lifting too soon doesn't give you a better result, just a more stressed lash. If you're not sure whether you're ready, pop in and Shelley at our Mount studio will tell you honestly.
For the first 24 hours after your lift, keep your lashes dry and away from steam. That means skipping the hot shower and the sauna for a day.
