Most clients describe it as a warm elastic flick against the skin, over in a moment, rather than pain. There's cooling throughout, and how it feels depends on the area and your own sensitivity. The whole appointment runs about 30 to 45 minutes, with the actual treatment a short part of that.
Very little. Skin can feel warm and look a touch pink for a few hours, like mild sun. Pigmented spots often darken first, then flake away on their own over the week after. Let them, don't pick or scrub.
Most skin sees real change over a series of three, spaced around three to four weeks apart. Heavier sun damage or persistent redness usually wants five. Your therapist maps it at your consultation.
It's best done in autumn and winter. You can't treat recently tanned skin, and you need to stay out of the sun before and after, so the cooler months are the safe window.
Recently tanned skin, some skin tones and certain pigmentation conditions aren't suited to IPL. We always patch test and assess at your free consultation before booking you in.
One session makes a visible dent, but IPL works best as a course. Each treatment clears another layer of pigment and redness, and the result builds and holds. Three is the standard for most skin. Five for heavier sun damage or stubborn redness. The series costs less than booking the sessions one by one, so you're paying for the result, not the appointment.
