Chin | IPL Hair Removal
Target coarse or stubborn hair on the chin.
Chin hair has a habit of turning up uninvited, and tweezing it only makes it more determined. IPL heats the hair at the root so it grows back finer and more sparse with each visit, until you're not reaching for the mirror and tweezers every other day. Small area, quick appointment, big relief.
IPL hair reduction uses light energy to target the hair follicle, so regrowth comes back finer and patchier over time. It's quick, it works, and most people find it far more comfortable than they expected.
Sensation: a quick, warm flick, a bit like a rubber band snap. Most areas are easy to sit through and it's over before you know it.
Time: anywhere from 15 to 90 minutes, depending on how many areas you're having done.
Downtime: minimal. You might notice slight redness or warmth that settles within a few hours.
Results: you'll start to see finer, patchier regrowth after two or three sessions. A course of 6 to 10, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, is what gets you long-term reduction.
Shave the area 24 hours before your appointment. We can shave certain areas in clinic for a small fee, though not private areas or the face.
No sun on the treatment area for two weeks beforehand.
If you've had direct sun (any tanning or sunbathing, with or without SPF), leave four weeks before your treatment.
If you've had incidental sun (mostly in the shade during sunny periods, with or without SPF), leave two weeks.
Make sure all fake tan is fully off the skin, with no residue, 24 hours before.
Skip topical creams, moisturisers, body oils, cologne and perfume on the area for 24 hours beforehand.
We can't treat over tattoos, but we can work around them with a 3cm gap.
Some medications mean IPL isn't suitable, so a free consultation is required for all first-time clients before booking.
Your skin's had a workout, so keep it gentle for a few days while it settles.
Redness or warmth is normal and usually calms within a few hours. A cool compress helps if you want it.
Keep the area clean and hands off. Let any shedding hairs come away on their own over the next week or two.
No hot showers, baths, saunas, spas or heavy workouts for 24 to 48 hours. Heat on freshly treated skin is asking for irritation.
Leave active skincare off the area for 48 hours. That means retinol, AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C, scrubs and exfoliants.
Keep the area out of the sun and wear ÜberZinc SPF daily on any skin that's exposed. Treated skin burns more easily, and sun is the quickest way to undo your progress.
No fake tan, sunbeds or deliberate tanning while you're working through your course.
Don't wax, pluck, thread or epilate between sessions. Shaving is fine, it keeps the follicle intact for next time.
Book your next session 4 to 6 weeks out to keep the course on track. Consistency is what gets the reduction.
If anything feels off, blistering, redness or discomfort that lasts beyond a day or two, give us a call and we'll take a look.
how IPL actually works
Here's what's happening under that flash of light. IPL targets the pigment in your hair, heating it right down to the root and putting the follicle out of action.
Hair grows in cycles, so we treat over a course, usually six to ten sessions four to six weeks apart, to catch every follicle at its most treatable.
The result builds as you go: finer regrowth, longer gaps between, and eventually skin you can forget to shave for weeks at a time.
